This BIPOC Improv Class is a dedicated learning space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to explore improv in an environment centered on care, joy, and cultural understanding.

This class is for students who want to learn improv fundamentals without having to code-switch, explain their identity, or perform for anyone else’s comfort. The focus is on building skills, trust, and confidence in a room where lived experience is welcomed as part of the work.

What this class is?

A supportive space to learn improv basics at your own pace
A place where identity is treated as an asset, not a barrier
A class that values listening, collaboration, and emotional truth
A community-centered experience grounded in care and joy

There’s no pressure to be someone you’re not. We focus on being present and growing together.

What you’ll work on:

Core improv skills like listening, yes-and, and scene building
Ensemble trust and collaboration
Confidence in taking up space
Playing from your own point of view

Classes include warm-ups, guided exercises, scene work, and time to reflect together.
No auditions. No pressure to perform perfectly.

Why a BIPOC-only space?
This class exists to reduce barriers, not create them. It offers a space where BIPOC students can take creative risks without carrying the extra weight that often shows up in mixed-race improv rooms.

The goal is skill-building, confidence, and joy, in that order.
