Sunday, September 21st is our last-day-of-summer Chicago Matcha Club meetup: Matcha 4 Ways.

Our friend Mikey B in Wazuka (Kyoto, Japan) sent us a fresh batch of Okumidori matcha—a rich "deep green" cultivar we'll taste prepared four different ways: traditional thick koicha, classic thin usucha, modern iced latte, and summery sparkling matcha.

If you're newer to matcha, this is perfect for exploring different preparation styles in one session. If you've tried these preparations before, you'll enjoy the deep dive into how this cultivar behaves differently across methods.

First 30 minutes: Matcha Talk. Bring questions—whisking troubles, water temperature, sourcing, authenticity, whatever's on your matcha-loving mind. Then we dive into the four-way tasting with context about the cultivar and each method.

We'll go traditional to modern—koicha and usucha first, then iced latte and sparkling versions. We'll discuss what makes each work (or not!) and you'll discover what you like (or don't!) and why. Same tea, completely different experiences.
