Workshop Description
Let’s dive into the ridiculous world of the clown, where play is paramount, stupidity is magic, and failure is freedom.
In this one-day introductory workshop, we’ll use games, movement, and improvisation exercises to set off on a quest to make each other laugh deeply and uncontrollably. We’ll play rigorously, invite idiotic impulses to the surface, get comfortable with taking risks, and open ourselves up to the beauty of failing, all while cultivating a well-tuned sensitivity to the audience we’re playing for. Along the way, we’ll get acquainted with the feeling of being onstage with nothing but our presence and our guts to guide us. Come play!
All experience levels and performing backgrounds are welcome. Participants will be asked to work quickly and embrace moments of uncertainty—so the more ready you are to dive in, the more we can play, fail, and discover together as a group.
