Description

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATE OF THIS CLASS IS NOT INDICATIVE OF THE DATES YOU WILL BE REHEARSING AND PERFORMING. PLEASE DO CHOOSE A DATE CLOSE TO YOUR PREFERRED STARTING DATE (THOUGH YOU WON'T BE HELD TO THE DATE YOU CHOOSE). ONCE YOU REGISTER, WE'LL COLLABORATE WITH YOU ON THE SPECIFIC DATES OF YOUR REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES. PLEASE READ BELOW FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS.

This class allows you to craft your own improvised show and to take the stage as a troupe for a limited run of your own performances while getting valuable feedback between each show! This approach allows you to grow from your performances, improve, and refine the show! If you're interested in producing stage-ready shows, this is the class for you. You'll have four one-hour workshops and four performances of at least 20 minutes loosely scheduled like this:

WORKSHOP -> PERFORMANCE -> WORKSHOP -> PERFORMANCE -> WORKSHOP -> PERFORMANCE -> WORKSHOP -> PERFORMANCE

Here's more detail about how it works.

  • IF you want to perform with certain folks, you gather your favorite fellow performers and friends. You register for this class as a "Troupe Member," indicating the other members of your "troupe" at checkout. Please have ALL members of your troupe register for the same date!
  • IF you're a solo performer and don't yet have a troupe, we want you to participate, too! We understand how difficult it can be to find like-minded individuals to perform with. Sign up for the "Looking for Group" tier. At checkout when it asks for your additional troupe members, put "FREE AGENT." We will connect with you, and you will be placed on a troupe and charged your registration fee as soon as we find a mutually-agreeable good fit for you!
  • Once you have your troupe assembled, we reach out to you to schedule a video chat to discuss your troupe's goals, show idea, classes, and performances. Together, we figure out what you want to do for your own improv show. Is it a puppet show? Is it a show where we all stand outside in the rain until someone sneezes? Is it a show within another show, nesting comfortably within another show? We'll give our input, but ultimately, it's up to you!
  • We will likely combine multiple troupes into one show night, if it makes sense for all parties to do so. This gives you an opportunity to see what other students are working on, to expand your circle of collaboration, and to share a fun night together!

THIS CLASS IS BEST FOR:
  • Improvisers who have taken our workshops for a while and want to challenge themselves to refine their own show in front of a live audience.
  • Improvisers interested in performing with a specific group of like-minded improvisers.
  • Existing improv troupes looking for external coaching or to do something different.
Get out of your head and onto the stage!

  • The class will start on time. If you need to be late, there's no need to apologize or explain. Please enter the space quietly and take a minute to arrive and take in what's going on. We'll incorporate you as soon as we can.
  • Class registrations are subject to close approximately 24 hours before the start of the class, so please sign up early if you're interested!
  • Registrations are final.
  • For improv classes, please wear comfortable, season-appropriate clothes ready for light physical activity. Please wear comfortable footwear, as you will have activities during which you're standing (if able).
  • The only thing you need to bring to class is a willingness to be brave and participate. We recommend bringing a water bottle and a notebook, if you want to take notes.
