Description
This class is not one of our improv classes but is an honest to goodness art class taught by local Spokane artists.

Each Thursday in July, starting on the 10th, join instructors Nadia Hitchcock and Nanette Cloud for a standalone session focused on observing the human form and developing your drawing skills. You get to explore the art of figure drawing in a relaxed, supportive setting with no long-term commitment. Models will be clothed, yes, but it's because interested people will take turns modeling for each other.

Whether you are a beginner or a practiced artist, these drop-in style classes will help you improve your technique and build confidence in capturing the human form. Come to one or come to all since every week offers a fresh experience and new inspiration.

We provide 8.5x11 paper, as well as pencils, markers, charcoal, and pastels to share.

If you have specific materials you enjoy working with, please bring them with you.

All are welcome!  Minors must be accompanied by a trusted adult.

About the Instructors
Nadia Hitchcock is a graphic design gremlin turned illustrator extraordinaire who brings storytelling, research, and a splash of cheeky color to everything she creates. A former Idahoan goat herder turned design professional, Nadia combines her background in digital and print design with a passion for local history, occult curiosities, and all things nerdy. Whether working in watercolor, digital illustration, motion graphics, or collaborative zines, her creative process always begins with deep research. She believes that powerful design hinges on using a subject’s history and context to create lasting, impactful work. Nadia’s playful, community-focused approach makes her an engaging art instructor with a knack for bringing people together through art. She is also a USDA certified research nerd.

Nanette Cloud is a nonbinary-transfeminine cartoonist and zinester based in Spokane, WA, whose work combines creativity, community, and a deep love for visual storytelling. A regular art educator throughout the Spokane area, Nanette’s work has been featured in Terrain 12 and 13, and in 2022, she was nominated for a Spokane Arts Imagination Award. She is a prolific self-publisher of zines and minicomics, producing at least one new title every year since 2017. When she worked at Spark Central she published a weekly zine called YOUCANDRAW that featured the work of people who went to her Drop in and Draw program. Nanette brings a fun, inclusive, and welcoming approach to teaching, rooted in her experience as an artist and her background in digital communication from The Evergreen State College.
