Set during the Salem Witch Trials on the day the first “witch” has been hanged, Hysterics unfolds in the home of three reclusive sisters. An ominous knock interrupts their return from Gallows Hill—and with it, the realization that they may be next. An unseen male physician has been charged with examining them for “signs of affliction,” his voice arriving only through the chilling handmaid sent to observe them.
