The Indianapolis 500 is arguably Indiana's most-honored tradition. For the last 115 years, the event has seen glorious victories, agonizing defeats, and everything in between. Come see the inception of what is destined to become Indiana's second-most-honored, 115-year tradition, as Fort Wayne Improv presents the inaugural Impy 500.

Here's how the Impy 500 works:

  • For the Friday night qualifiers, 5 improv troupes take the stage one at a time.
  • Each troupe is given 500 seconds to put on their best improv performance, be it short-form improv, long-form improv, or a mixture of both.
  • The audience determines their two favorite teams by being as loud as the infield at the Indy 500.
  • The two teams return on Saturday night for the finals, with each team given 25 minutes to perform whatever improv they'd like.
  • The audience decides the champion of the night. 
  • The champion is crowned.
The stakes couldn't be higher. The anticipation couldn't be more.

If you have an improv troupe and would like to have YOUR troupe considered for the Impy 500, please complete this entry form by MAY 15, 2026. Entrance for consideration is FREE, though we only have five slots available. Participants will be notified by MAY 20, 2026.

Who will drink milk from the coveted Impy Cup? Hopefully, no one who is lactose intolerant.
  • We are a CASHLESS theater, so please prepare accordingly if you plan on getting your ticket at the door or a drink!

  • There are NO DRINK/ITEM MINIMUMS for any of our shows.
  • Please add contact@fortwayneimprov.com to your email contact list in case we need to reach you with additional information.
  • Unless otherwise indicated in the show description, doors open one hour prior to showtime for most shows. Out of respect for other show guests, please arrive at the theater no later than 15 minutes prior to showtime. The doors may be closed to late arrivals.
  • Online ticket sales close ~60 minutes prior to the start of the show. After that time, tickets can be purchased at the box office, if available.
  • Your tickets are general admission, and we seat on a first-come, first-seated basis. Don't hesitate to contact us for reservations, particularly if you have a larger group.
  • All ticket purchases are final.
  • There may be an additional charge if tickets are purchased at the door for some performances, so we encourage you to purchase your tickets online.
  • The theater is an 18+ club, although younger, accompanied guests are welcome. Though we try to stay at no more than a PG-13 rating, please be advised that most of our content is improvised and set your expectations accordingly. We do have family-friendly show options, as well!
  • By your attendance at a show, you agree to our terms and conditions.
  • Any processing fees go directly to our ticket processing provider. We do NOT take a portion of the fee for ourselves.

  • By purchasing a ticket for a show, you are opting into communication from the theater about upcoming classes and shows. You may opt out of this communication at any time.
