Now Playable Characters: An Improv Workshop for TTRPG Players and GMs

Saturday, Oct 3, 2026 @ 3:00 PM EDT • $27.60 (includes fees)

Description
Are you a GM who feels the dread set in when your table REALLY wants to ask Boblin the Goblin a hundred questions? Maybe you're a player who freezes up when trying to put the RP in TTRPG so you just cast fire bolt again and hope for the best.

In this 90-minute workshop, you'll learn how a few improv techniques can quickly make your game night run smoother, your game worlds feel richer, and your characters feel more fun to play.

Are you an improviser who doesn't play games? Firstly, HOW? Secondly, this workshop requires no dice. The skills you learn here are as applicable on the stage as they are at the table.

In this workshop, you will learn:
  1. How to find simple character traits that can be quickly adopted and replicated.
  2. How to make big, bold, heroic choices.
  3. How having a simple "want" becomes a filter for all of your character choices.
  4. How to discover rather than create.

INSTRUCTOR: PHIL GREEN. Phil Green is an improviser, educator, and recovering forever DM. Phil has been improvising for over 15 years, including with Liverpool Comedy Improv, The Second City Training Center, and The Bit Theater, where he produced and directed TBD&D, a TTRPG themed show that ran for 3 years.
