A great host does more than tell jokes—they set the tone, earn the audience's trust, keep the show moving, and create an environment where every performer can succeed. Whether you're emceeing a comedy showcase, hosting an open mic, leading a corporate event, or introducing speakers at a fundraiser, the ability to confidently run a room is one of the most valuable skills a performer can develop.

In this four-week course, you'll learn the art of hosting from the ground up. We'll cover everything from opening a show and delivering venue announcements naturally to introducing performers, managing the energy between sets, and handling unexpected moments with confidence. You'll also learn practical strategies for dealing with hecklers and audience disruptions professionally, focusing on maintaining control of the room rather than simply "winning" an interaction. The final week explores corporate and event hosting, including working with clients, sponsors, and production teams.

The first hour of each class is dedicated to lecture, discussion, and hands-on hosting simulations where you'll practice real-world scenarios in a supportive environment. The second half of each class is devoted to developing your stand-up material, with the goal of building a polished 10-minute hosting set that can be used to open comedy shows and other live events.

This course is designed for stand-up comedians, emcees, event hosts, improvisers, and performers looking to sharpen their stage presence and become more confident leading a live audience. Students should already be comfortable performing on stage and are strongly encouraged to have at least a seven-minute stand-up set before enrolling so they can fully benefit from the performance portion of the class.
