The Uptown Improv Academy is a weekend training intensive for improvisers who want to deepen their craft and work closely with experienced visiting artists. Participants train in small cohorts with Billy Soco and Holly Mandel, exploring scene work, character development, ensemble dynamics, and performance in a focused, supportive environment.
Space is limited to 32 participants total, with 16 improvisers per cohort.

What Your Registration Includes
- Friday night instructor performance and post-show Q&A
- Saturday intensive training sessions in small cohorts
- Saturday night performance opportunity with instructors
- Sunday development sessions focused on coaching, ensemble work, and teacher training
- Direct instruction from Billy Soco and Holly Mandel
Training Cohorts
Participants will be placed into one of two cohorts based on experience and training background.
Intermediate Cohort
For improvisers who have completed introductory training and want to deepen their work in scene structure, relationship, and collaboration.
Advanced Cohort
For experienced improvisers ready to explore more complex scene work, character development, performance choices, and teaching perspectives.
To ensure the strongest learning environment, cohort placement will be determined based on participant background and experience.

- Enrollment is limited and space will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Registration is not complete until payment is received.
- Participants will be placed in cohorts after registration review.
- If a cohort fills, additional registrants may be placed on a waitlist.
- Detailed schedule and weekend information will be sent to registered participants in advance of the event.
