Description
Building Comedy Characters from Scratch: In this workshop, you'll create original comedy characters from scratch that you can use anywhere from sketch videos to live improv to solo performance. You'll learn repeatable techniques to rapidly generate tons of ideas, bring them to life using improvisation, and revise them for maximum comedic impact. In the first half of the workshop, we'll walk through the character creation process from idea to structure to execution. In the second half, we'll flesh out our characters and hone them through individual feedback. By the end, you'll have the skills to build hilarious characters in your own voice and the confidence to blow audiences away.
About your instructor: Originally from Bangor, Andy Bolduc is a comedian, writer, and actor based in Chicago. He was a member of The Second City mainstage cast from 2022 to 2025, after performing improv and sketch comedy around the country from 2018 to 2021 in Second City's National Touring Company. He co-hosts the podcast Idiotically Speaking with Chris Kattan, makes videos with sketch group, Cigarette Sandwich, and performs live in iO Theater's Armando Diaz Experience as well as with his brother Pat as The Bolduc Bros.
