Description
This is a 5-week performance class focused on learning and performing the Armando, a classic long-form improv format that blends comedic storytelling with scene work.
Throughout the class, you’ll learn how to use a single audience suggestion to inspire personal stories and monologues, then turn those stories into engaging improv scenes. We’ll focus on storytelling, creating strong monologues, finding ideas and themes within stories, and using them as inspiration for scene work.
- Develop your storytelling skills to create compelling and funny monologues.
- Master the art of connecting scenes and characters through themes and callbacks.
- Explore techniques for seamless transitions between storytelling and improv scenes.
- Work as an ensemble to build rich, cohesive worlds inspired by your monologues.

Over the five weeks, students will build toward performing the Armando format together as an ensemble.
Refund Policy
Students may cancel their course registration and request a full refund up to seven days prior to their course's start date. If students request a refund within three to six days before the course's start date, a 50% refund will be issued. Refund requests made after these cut-off times will not be issued. Please note, service fees are not refundable.
You may request a transfer to the next session of the same course. One transfer will be made. No refunds will be offered when a student transfers to another course. If the Blue Door Theatre/Spokane School of Improv cancels a course, refunds will be issued.
